CALDY OPEN GARDENS 2025

PLAN YOUR DAY

Thank you for buying your tickets to the best garden event on West Wirral! We’re thrilled to welcome you to Caldy Open Gardens 2025,
a special day that not only celebrates the beauty of our village but also helps raise thousands of pounds for Age UK Wirral.

Due to safety considerations, insurance requirements, and the physical limitations of the village itself,
we’ve had to limit the number of tickets available. This means:

- Only pre-booked ticket holders can attend
- No tickets will be available on the day
- No last-minute add-ons or extras can be accommodated
- The person who made the booking needs to bring a form of ID that matches the name on the ticket reservation.

If you have been given a ticket by a family member or friend and the person who made the booking is not going to be present, you will be required to know the name of the person who booked the ticket. This is to help us combat secondary fraudulent ticket use.

All ticket holders must register on arrival to receive a wristband, which is essential for entry into the gardens and attractions.
We ask that you please respect this policy, as your safety, enjoyment, and the accessibility of the gardens are our top and only priorities.

REGISTRATION

Before visiting any gardens or attractions, all attendees must register in person at one of our designated registration points:
- Croft Drive West (recommended for visitors arriving from West Kirby)
- The intersection where Croft Drive East & Barton Hey Drive meet

At registration, your ticket will be scanned and you’ll be given a wristband, which is required for entry into all gardens and attractions throughout the event. You’ll also receive an event programme, which includes everything you need for the day – from the full event map and garden locations to details about refreshment stops, WC facilities, and accessibility guidance.

There is no separate map, so please keep your programme with you at all times.

📄 Please print your tickets or Have the barcode visible on your mobile device. for the quickest and smoothest barcode scanning.
Registration is compulsory – you will not be admitted to any part of the event without a wristband.
So when you arrive, make sure your first stop is a registration site. We’ll get you all set up for a brilliant day out in Caldy!

Tickets will be scanned on the day using connected apps at both registration points. These systems will detect and flag any duplicate or fraudulent tickets. Anyone caught attempting to attend without a valid ticket will be refused entry.

PARKING

Caldy is a small, historic village originally built for horse and cart. Many roads are narrow, and some, like Caldy Road, have pavements on only one side. The entire village is a 20mph zone, and with over 2,000 visitors expected, we anticipate a high volume of traffic and parked cars throughout the day.

There is no official event parking, but we do have some helpful advice to make your day smoother.

On-street parking is available throughout Caldy as there are no double yellow lines. However, be aware that parking in the village itself is likely to result in delays when leaving, due to traffic congestion and the need for cars to pass each other on narrow roads. The village will be extremely busy, so if you’re able to park further out, it may save you time and hassle later on.

The nearest public car park (Caldy Car Park) is located at the bottom of Croft Drive, at the entrance to the Wirral Way. This car park holds approximately 50 vehicles but is expected to fill up quickly.

A great alternative is in Thurstaston, just a 15-minute walk to Caldy via the Wirral Way. Near Flissy’s Coffee Shop, you’ll find two large council-run car parks, which can accommodate many cars for a small fee. These offer quick and easy access and are far less likely to be affected by the heavy congestion in the village.

Another option is West Kirby, around a 25-minute walk into Caldy. It has two large public car parks – one near the train station and another by Morrisons – and offers a pleasant walk along parts of Wirral’s circular paths. If you're up for stretching your legs and taking in the views, this could be a relaxing way to start and end your day.

There are also a number of public parking spaces near The Cottage Loaf, with a short walk down to Caldy Road, and Hickory’s Smokehouse, located at the bottom of Caldy Road, offers free parking to the public.

If you do decide to park within the village, please be considerate to residents:

  • Do not block driveways

  • Avoid parking on pavements, so that people with prams and wheelchairs can pass safely

  • Leave enough space for vehicles to get through on narrow lanes

The pavements will be very busy with pedestrians, so keeping them clear is essential.

In short: arrive early, park smart, and be patient – it’s all part of the adventure!

DOGS

As much as we love our furry friends, dogs are not permitted in any of the gardens or attractions during the event. This is due to insurance requirements, respect for our garden owners, and the safety of all attendees. Please do not bring dogs with you, as you will not be granted access to any part of the event. The only exception is for licensed assistance dogs. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Cash & Card Payments

We’re aiming to raise as much money as possible for Age UK Wirral, and while card payments are accepted at all sites, we truly welcome cash, as it helps us avoid processing fees and ensures more goes directly to the charity.

Please note: The Church Hall is cash only. All other sites can accept card payments

However, card machines are operated by volunteers of all ages – some more tech-savvy than others! If there are any technical hiccups on the day, we kindly ask for your patience and understanding. To be safe, we recommend bringing some cash along, just in case.

Plant Sales

Don’t miss our fantastic plant sale, featuring beautiful home-grown plants from across West Wirral. If you purchase a plant during the day, you’re welcome to store it safely at the plant sale site until you're ready to go home. If you’d like to take advantage of this, please bring a way to clearly mark your plant – whether that’s a sticky label, a marker pen, or even a distinctive coloured bag.

Our volunteers will do their best to assist, but plant storage is at your own risk, and we can’t accept responsibility for any lost or unclaimed items.

Caldy Open Gardens is entirely run by volunteers
from the generous garden owners and the dedicated planning team to the many helpers you'll see throughout the day. Countless hours have gone into making this a truly special event.

And it’s all for a wonderful cause: 100% of the funds raised will go directly to Age UK Wirral.

By simply buying a ticket, you’ve already made a meaningful contribution – thank you.

We can't wait to welcome you to Caldy. Let’s make it a beautiful day to remember!
